2011 Fall Grand Prix Tournaments

 

Location: Kanapaha Middle School at 5005 SW 75th Street, (Tower Road), Gainesville, Fl

Spring Calendar: K-1, K-3 & K-5 K-12 Open

ACSCA Grand Prix #1 Sunday, September 25, 2011 Rounds 1, 2 & 3 Rounds 1 & 2

ACSCA Grand Prix #2 Sunday, October 23, 2011 Rounds 4, 5 & 6 Rounds 3 & 4

ACSCA Grand Prix #3 Sunday, December 11, 2011 Rounds 7, 8 & 9   Rounds 5 & 6

Registration: The pre-registration fee will be $15 for each tournament if received by the Friday before each of the tournaments. You may pre-register for all three tournaments prior to 5pm on September 23rd for only $40.00.

The onsite registration fee will be $20.00 per tournament.

NOTE: If you plan to pay for all three days in advance, you can save on time and fees by pre-registering securely online at www.gainesvillechess.com before 5pm on September 23. There will be no extra charge online.

Schedule, (Day of Tournament):

  • Late Registration: 12:30 – 1:15pm

  • All players must arrive by 1:15pm. Any player arriving late, (after 1:15pm), without proper notification, may be disqualified from participating in the first round but may play in subsequent rounds.

  • If requested in advance, a player may miss one of the first two Grand Prix days and receive bye points (1/2 for K-12 Open and 1 point for all other sections).

Sections K – 1, K – 3, K – 5 Section K – 12 Open

Round 1 1:30 – 2:30 Round 1 1:30 – 3:00

Round 2 2:30 – 3:30 Round 2 3:00 – 4:30

Round 3 3:30 – 4:30

Awards:

  • All participants will receive either a ribbon or a medal at each tournament, in sections K-1, K-3 & K-5 any student scoring 2, 2½, or 3 points at any single tournament will receive a medal.

  • In the K-12 Open section any score of 1½, or 2 points will receive a medal.

  • At the end of the December tournament, any players attending all three tournaments will be given a participation trophy.

  • Grand Prix scores will be tallied at the end of the third tournament. The top three scoring individuals in each section will be awarded a Grand Prix Trophy.

  • Grand Prix trophies will also be awarded to the top two scoring teams in each section. While team sizes may vary, a team score will consist of only the three top scoring boards/individuals from each section of each participating team.

Please Note: All participants must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult member of their school or chess club. No student is to be dropped off. Parents and coaches will be responsible for the actions of their students at all times. Good sportsmanship and proper behavior is expected at all times both during and between rounds.
